Southampton are closing in on a deal to sign Celtic keeper Fraser Forster according to ESPN.

The 26 year old England international, who was part of Roy Hodgson’s 2014 World Cup finals set-up, looks set complete a move to St Mary’s as Ronald Koeman look to re-shuffle his severely depleted squad.

Celtic will not allow Forster to leave until after the second leg of their Champions League qualifying tie with Legia Warsaw, with the Glasgow side 4-1 down from the first encounter.

The Bhoys have brought in Craig Gordon and may see Forster as a possible replacement, a move that in turn may see Artur Boruc leave Southampton.

Forster moved to Celtic from Newcastle United back in June 2012, after completing two earlier campaigns on loan at the SPL side, and may well be keen on a return to the Premier League.

Koeman has seen a number of top talents leave this summer but will hope for significant funds to re-invest in his squad and a move for Forster may be one of many the Dutch boss makes, having already signed Feyenoord forward Graziano Pelle and Serbian midfielder Dušan Tadi?.
