Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is not impressed with the antics of his Southampton counterpart Ronald Koeman, report the Daily Mail, with the Scot seemingly annoyed by Koeman’s public courting of centre back Ron Vlaar.

Southampton manager Koeman reportedly said that Vlaar would be an “option” as a centre back signing for the Saints, something which has riled Lambert.

Vlaar is entering into the last year of his contract at Villa Park and has attracted interest this summer following a string of fine performances for the Netherlands at the 2014 FIFA World Cup under Louis van Gaal.

With Vlaar also having played under Koeman whilst the pair were at Feyenoord, it is clear to see where the rumours linking the player nicknamed ‘Concrete Ron’ with a move to the South Coast.

Lambert, however, was not at all happy with the Dutchman’s comments:

“There is been absolutely no enquiry, not one iota on it. The only thing I am disappointed in is people talking about him, who should know better than to talk about other people’s players.”

With formal talks over a new contract for Vlaar set to start, and the centre back having appeared for Villa in their pre-season friendly draw against Serie A side Parma, it looks as though Southampton have a fight on their hands to lure him away from Villa Park.
