The 27 year old Uruguayan had been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium earlier in the summer and is apparently still a player Arsene Wenger wants to sign, despite having brought in Chilean Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona, along with his stunning WAG Laisa Grassi.

Indeed Cavani’s agent had even gone to the lengths of publicly confirming that the north London side had made an approach for his client.

Arsenal’s hopes of signing the Parc des Princes man could hinge on whether the Ligue 1 side can complete the capture of long term target Angel di Maria.

The potential signing of the Real Madrid winger would leave Laurent Blanc happy to offload Cavani, who is said to be unsettled in the French capital.

The £51m rated forward is also said to be a player both Man United and Liverpool are keen on.

Cavani netted 25 goals in all competitions last term and racked up an astonishing 104 goals in three seasons at Napoli and would certainly give Olivier Giroud a run for his money as Arsenal’s first choice central striking option.
