It’s a repeat of the 2014 World Cup final in Brazil in this international friendly as Argentina will be looking to exact revenge on Germany for that result in the Maracana Stadium back in July.

The Germans are the reigning world champions after a solitary Mario Gotze strike earned them the biggest trophy in international football and this is their first outing since that historic night.

Joachim Low will be encouraging his team to forget their past achievements though as this game with the Argentinians is not just an exhibition match, but a chance to prepare for their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign – which begins on Monday.

For their South American opponents there is a new man at the helm, with Gerardo Martino a familiar figure to FC Barcelona fans for his time in charge at the Nou Camp in 2013/14.

Martino will be keen to get off to a winning start, but his chances of doing that have taken a significant blow due to the absence of captain and talisman Lionel Messi for this match.

For the hosts they will start life without the recently retired Philipp Lahm and Miroslav Klose, whilst Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil is missing with an ankle injury.
