The 24 year old has greatly impressed over the past year and his efforts this term led to a call-up to the England set-up, and an superb display in Roy Hodgson’s starting eleven away in Switzerland, and now Arsene Wenger is weighing up a possible January bid for the midfield schemer.

Delph is into the final year of his current contract and has reportedly turned down offers of a new deal, which could lead chairman Randy Lerner to consider January offers for the player to avoid the prospect of losing the former Leeds United man on a free transfer next summer.

Wenger is light of central midfield options and arguably Delph may offer more than veteran skipper Mikel Arteta in the long term and has the bite in the challenge whilst also being able to push the play forward into the opposition territory, something Frenchman Mathieu Flamini certainly lacks.

Everton are also tracking Delph though one imagines a move to the Emirates Stadium would prove more tempting, especially with Wenger being able to offer the Aston Villa man Champions League action this term, should Arsenal still be in the competition by January.
