The retiring Landon Donovan scored one of the most iconic goal in the United States’ footballing history.
It came in the final minute of the final group game of the United States’ 2010 World Cup campaign. With England leading against Slovenia in Port Elizabeth, the Americans knew they needed to beat Algeria to prevent an embarrassing early exit.

Algeria were content to sit deep, hopeful of getting the single point that they needed to progress. In the 91st minute, Tim Howard collected the ball, picked out Donovan with an inch-perfect throw, and the rest is history.
