The 21 year old centre-back is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football and has already secured senior German national team caps and is apparently seen by Jose Mourinho as a potential long term replacement for veteran skipper John Terry.

Rudiger is apparently available for around £7m, which is a far cheaper option than Blues target Rapahel Varane who is said to be valued by Real Madrid at a massive £40m, whilst Chelsea youngsters Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen are both apparently seen as too ‘raw’ for first team action.

The Berlin born defender may well be tempted by a move to Stamford Bridge where Mourinho is putting together a stunning squad which is full of young talents with bright futures which augers well for the west London side’s future success.

Rudiger’s Stuttgart side sit near the foot of the Bundesliga table and as such the youngster may well have extra motivation to secure a move to the Premier League table toppers.
