Barcelona Ace Gerard Pique Claims Ex-Liverpool Star Luis Suarez Is ‘Really Different’, And ‘The Opposite Of Sweet’

Pique has been talking up Suarez before El Clasico this weekend…

Gerard Pique reckons superstar striker Luis Suarez is ready for El Clasico following his lengthy ban, reports Sky Sports.

Luis Suarez is eligible to make his Barcelona debut in El Clasico on Saturday evening, after serving his ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini in the World Cup, and the Barcelona defender is looking forward to the impact he can make on the team.

He has compared the player’s style with that of his colleagues, saying that Suarez is not “sweet” like Xavi and Andres Iniesta.

“Suarez is a really different player to what we have right now,” Pique told Revista.

“His style is with all the rebounds. He plays differently, for example, to Andres Iniesta or Xavi – they are sweet with the ball and Suarez is the opposite. But we need that.

“I think he is ready to play in the Clasico. A couple of days ago he scored twice against Oman and he is fit.”

The Spanish centre-back’s description of Suarez’s style as “with all the rebounds,” and not “sweet” may sound weird to most. However, he’s really just claiming Suarez’s one-track-mind for goals is what Barcelona need at the moment, and with Real Madrid in brilliant form – the £75m Uruguayan could just be the difference.
