Erik Lamela could be on the way out at Spurs withs reports linking him with a move back to AS Roma next summer.

Erik Lamela looks like he may be shown the door at Spurs with his former club AS Roma considering a spectacular move that could see him return to Italy next season, according to the London Evening Standard.

22 year-old Lamela has struggled to settle at Spurs following his £30 million move in the summer of 2013.

The Argentine forward suffered loss of form and numerous injuries throughout a difficult first season in England, and despite showing some moments of brilliance, the North London club’s record signing is still searching for his first league goal for the side over a year after joining.

Whilst there is little chance of the club listening to offers in January due to the difficulty replacing Lamela in the midseason market, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy may consider listening to offers for Lamela if his form doesn’t improve by the summer.

Given the price they paid to sign Lamela, it would likely take a similarly large figure to entice him back to Serie A. However, Spurs may be hopeful of starting a bidding war for the forward, with Inter Milan also said to be monitoring the situation following Roberto Mancini’s appointment as manager.
