The Anfield side suffered a third successive Premier League defeat on the weekend and find themselves down in 12th place but it appears the club’s owners are ready to bankroll moves to bring in some much needed reinforcements when the transfer window reopens.

Question marks persist over first choice keeper Simon Mignolet and Liverpool have been linked with a £7m move to bring in Chelsea keeper Petr Cech.

The Czech Republic international finds himself in the unaccustomed position of warming the bench at Stamford Bridge with youngster Thibaut Courtois now being seen as Jose Mourinho’s first choice starter.

With Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert both struggling for form, with just one Premier League goal between them, Rodgers has set his sights on Colombian goal machine Jackson Martinez.

Liverpool will offer £30m for the FC Porto marksman who has scored 72 goals in 107 appearances since moving to the Primeira Liga side and could be tempted by a fresh challenge.

The Merseyside club are also readying a £10m bid for Norwich City winger Nathan Redmond as Rodgers seeks to bring in further wide-attacking options.

The England Under 21 international is also being pursued by Southampton.
