Mesut Ozil seems to be well on the way to recovery with the crocked Arsenal star pictured arriving at first team training.
The German World Cup winner suffered a partial ligament tear on his knee in the Gunners 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on October 5th and was given a prognosis of 12 weeks on the sidelines.
However, the Gunners £42 million signing was snapped walking onto the training field behind goalkeepers Wojciech Szczesny and Damian Martinez.
The Arsenal official website still claims Ozil will not be ready for first team football before 2015 but the picture of the German walking into training will have fans of the North London side hoping of an early Christmas present.
The potentially good news on Ozil is, however, overshadowed by the injury crisis Arsenal currently find themselves in as they prepare to face Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Per Mertesacker is the only recognised central defender as Laurent Koscileny and Nacho Monreal have been confirmed out injured and Calum Chambers is suspended.
Arsene Wenger also confirmed in his pre-Newcastle press conference that Aaron Ramsey picked up a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Galatasaray midweek and will definitely be missing against the Magpies.
