Liverpool veteran Kolo Toure believes it’s ‘crazy’ to suggest Brendan Rodgers should be sacked following the Anfield side’s average start to the campaign according to Evening Standard.

Yesterday’s defeat to arch rivals Man United left Liverpool 18 points off top of the table Chelsea and came days after the club’s Champions League exit and as such it’s not entirely surprising that Rodgers finds his position in charge of the Merseyside outfit in jeopardy.

Kolo Toure however feels such talk is very premature, stating;

“It’s crazy to even talk about his future,”

“He’s a great manager and we all know that. Just look at how fantastic he did last season

“This season has been tougher for him. But a lot of new players came in and things change. Time is needed for everyone to gel.

“We’re all behind him and we’re all trying to make things better. In the Premier League things can turn very quickly.

“I believe in this manager and I believe in this group of players. I know we will improve during the second half of the season.

“We are missing some players who will be back soon. We all need to improve. We will all do our best to get him and the club out of this situation.”

“I honestly believe we deserved something out of the game,” said Toure. “We were the better side but we didn’t manage to take the chances we created.

“We started the game really well. We put them under pressure but then we conceded a goal.

“It’s been a tough week for us with going out of the Champions League to Basle and then losing to United. We have to stick together and make sure we bounce back.”

Liverpool take on AFC Bournemouth in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals in midweek and a defeat to the Championship high-flyers could prove disastrous to Rodgers’ hopes of retaining his seat at the helm.
