The Spanish giants see the 20 year old as potentially their next ‘Galatico’ signing though one imagines the Anfield side have other ideas on the matter.

Liverpool have been in ongoing talks with Sterling with a view to the Merseyside outfit tying the England man to a new contract and will no doubt repel any advances for one of their top talents.

However the Metro quotes a Spanish based reporter, Paul Breen-Turner, as stating that Sterling is Bernabeu bound.

‘I am hearing he will be gone from Liverpool and will probably be at Real Madrid next season.’

Brendan Rodgers has moved to convert Sterling into a striking weapon, from his usual role as winger, in a move to strengthen his misfiring attack.

Summer signings Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli have both failed to impress, the duo netting just three Premier League goals between them, whilst Daniel Sturridge has missed most of the current campaign through injury.

Liverpool will no doubt look to resist offers for Sterling but if they fail to secure a Champions League berth for next term then such efforts may prove insurmountable.
