The Belgian was part of the Atleti side that beat the Blues in the semi finals of the competition last time round, but then went on to suffer defeat at the hands of their fierce rivals Real Madrid in the final.

This has only made the 22-year-old more keen to win the trophy this campaign, with the loss potentially making it all the more sweeter.

The youngster said: “Once you’ve been that close, you want it even more because it’s like you tasted it a little bit, being so close to winning. We were so close, so now you want to win it even more. I think the next time – if there is a next time – if we win it, it will taste even better.”

The Stamford Bridge outfit play PSG in the second leg of their last 16 tie on Wednesday, knowing a clean sheet will see them through to the next round. The keeper will be hoping that he is able to deliver that to keep his dream of winning the competition alive.
