The Argentinian international has been chased by a number of top European clubs according to The Daily Star, but now looks set to stay with the Nerazzuri for the long term meaning top Premier League teams will have to look elsewhere.

The paper report that the deal has been agreed in principle and all that is waiting is the signature of Inter Milan’s owner. It is thought that the forward will be allowed to keep his image rights as part of the contract and will be entitled to a host of bonuses thanks to his good form this season.

He has scored 21 goals in 41 appearances this season and always maintained that it was the club’s decision whether he stayed with the club or left for pasture news.

“I still have three years, and if we can find an agreement then everyone’s going to be happy,” he said.

“If other clubs want me, they have to talk about it with Inter. If the club wants to sell me, I’ll pack my bags and go.

“Otherwise, I’ll stay in Milan, as I really like it here and I’m happy. My family feels at home here.”
