Chelsea have emerged as the surprise candidates to sign Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure in the summer.
According to the Sunday Express, the player’s agent Dimitri Seluk has revealed that the Ivorian is 90% sure that he will be leaving the Etihad at the end of the season, after a disappointing campaign for the defending Premier League champions.
The Express report that Manuel Pellegrini’s side are also expecting to lose their talisman, and will be willing to let him go should they receive a bid of around £10m. By getting him off the wage bill – he currently receives £220,000 a week at Eastlands – they will have some of the resources needed to rebuild their squad, which is one of the oldest in the top flight.
Chelsea would have no problem paying the fee required to bring the 32-year-old to Stamford Bridge, as the Express reveal that Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the player, and still believes that he can still have an impact at the top table of English football.
