Aston Villa are going to join Liverpool, West Ham, and Newcastle United in their attempts to sign Fiorentina’s Manchester City loanee Micah Richards, reports the Daily Star.
With the 24-year-old’s contract ending in the summer there is likely to be a free for all to sign him. The Citizens are unlikely to renew the right-back’s deal despite the fact he could help them fulfil their home grown quota. They are currently struggling to meet the number required.
He has been on loan at Serie A side Fiorentina from parent club Manchester City this season, and has not had the most successful time there. The 13 cap England international has played 18 times for the Viola during the campaign, with five of those appearances coming from the substitutes’ bench.
Even so the Premier League trio are still keen on signing the defender, who has been a victim of the vast sums spent by the Sky Blues in recent seasons. The Merseyside club are likely to be especially interested with the upcoming departure of Glen Johnson from Anfield.
