Gunners steal a march on United for defender.
Arsenal are being linked with a £13m bid to sign Zenit Saint Petersburg defender Ezequiel Garay ahead of long-time admirers Manchester United.
The Gunners need to strengthen at the back this summer after some unconvincing form from the likes of Per Mertesacker last season, and Garay has now emerged as a top target for manager Arsene Wenger.
The Argentine has long been one of the most solid defensive players in Europe, having first caught the eye at Benfica as well as for his national side, whom he’s currently representing at the Copa America.
According to the Daily Express, United’s interest in the 28-year-old may have cooled as they pursue Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos, leaving Arsenal as the new favourites to snap him up from the Russian giants.
