Raheem Sterling ‘highly unlikely’ to take part in Liverpool pre-season tour, according to respected journalist

Well-respected Mail Sport journalist Oliver Holt claims it’s ‘highly unlikely’ that Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling will travel with the club on their pre-season tour.

The England international reportedly informed the club of his wishes to leave this summer and also requested to be left off the list travelling to the Far East and Australia on Sunday [via Telegraph Sport].

His future at the club looked bleak after he failed to show up for training for two straight days during the week as he was reportedly ill [via Telegraph Sport], but manager Brendan Rodgers dropped the strongest hint yet of his intentions to keep hold of Sterling by naming him in the squad for the pre-season tour.

However, with a reported third bid from Manchester City tabled over the weekend [via Mail Sport], Holt revealed via his official Twitter account that the 20-year-old is unlikely to board the plane with the rest of his Reds teammates.

With these fresh reports coming to light, have City finally seen a bid accepted for Sterling after two failed attempts earlier in the summer?
