Man City confirmed as suitors for supreme wonderkid and Man United transfer target

The list of teams keen on signing Barcelona prodigy Adama Traore only looks like increasing, with Mundo Deportivo confirming that Manchester City were keen on his client.

The Spanish source, as reported by the Stoke Sentinel, provided the following update on the 19-year-old’s current situation.

“The interest has not waned and Manchester City and Stoke City have joined the list of English suitors,” the report begins.

However, both Premier League sides may face competition from European giants Ajax.

“The team most pressing Traore’s agent, David Aranda, is Ajax,” the report continues.

“(Manager) Frank de Boer loves the player and considers him ideal for their system but (director of football) Marc Overmars has always been met with a refusal to negotiate from Barca.”

While the Catalan giants may have refused to discuss the player’s future to date, they may be won over by the benefits of sending one of their brightest talents to Ajax—a world class, historically-established environment for a young player’s development—particularly considering the presence of Barca alumni de Boer and Overmars.

However, City—who can call upon ex-Barca director of football Txiki Begiristain—and Stoke, who have done considerable work with Barcelona in recent times, may both be confident of getting their man.

The Potters have already signed Bojan and Marc Muniesa from the reigning European champions.

According to the Stoke Sentinel, the player’s list of suitors includes Manchester United, Southampton and Everton, all of whom would be keen to secure the 19-year-old’s signature.

The Red Devils may be tempted to meet the player’s £10.5 million fee release clause [Stoke Sentinel], while Roberto Martinez may be confident that his astute mentoring of Gerard Deulofeu could tempt Barca to loan them Traore for an important year of his development.
