Theo Walcott scored the only goal of the game on Sunday afternoon as Arsenal beat Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg 1-0 to clinch the Emirates Cup trophy for the first time since 2010.
The England international broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half as he latched on to a fine pass from youngster Jeff Reine-Adelaide to poke the ball past Diego Benaglio and score his second goal of pre-season after netting the opener against Everton last weekend.
Walcott started the game in his favoured centre-forward role and came close to finding the net in the first half and it should be noted that his goal came after he was switched to the right-wing at the interval.
It was been reported in the British media over the weekend that Walcott has signed a new long-term contract with the Gunners and his goal will have been the perfect way for him to celebrate committing his future to the club.
