Edin Dzeko, who completed a move from Manchester City to AS Roma on Wednesday evening, has sent a message to Citizens fans looking back on his time at the club.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina has moved to the Italian capital on an initial loan move, although the Giallorossi have the option to sign the player permanently [Goal].

The move was confirmed on the official Twitter accounts of both City and Roma.

Dzeko has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium for some time [The Guardian]; with Raheem Sterling and Wilfried Bony joining Sergio Aguero and Jesus Navas in the Citizens’ forward line, the Eastern European frontman had become surplus to requirements.

The former Wolfsburg frontman scored 50 goals in 130 appearances for the Sky Blues, and was present for two Premier League triumphs—under Manuel Pellegrini and, previously, Roberto Mancini. He was a hugely popular figure with both the club—who published a lengthy tribute to their departing star on their official website—and the City fans.

It appears the affection is mutual, with Dzeko posting the following message on his @EdDzeko Twitter handle to thank the club’s supporters, who he describes as ‘one big family’.
