Reports in Turkey suggest that Besiktas are keen on Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez after being thwarted in their attempts to sign Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva.

Newspaper Fotomac [as per the Birmingham Mail], report that the Colombian enforcer is being targeted by the Istanbul heavyweights ahead of a potential deadline-day move.

Since taking the reins at Villa Park, Tim Sherwood has wasted little time in remoulding the Midlands giants; the likes of Jordan Ayew and Rudy Gestede have been introduced in attack, while Micah Richards and Jordan Amavi have been brought in to bolster the backline.

Ligue 1 pair Jordon Veretout and Idrissa Gueye have been signed to enforce the midfield and, along with Ashley Westwood, has given Sherwood a plethora of midfield options.
