United in mammoth striker bid.

Manchester United made a huge bid of around £60m to sign Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller this summer, it has been revealed.

The Red Devils were keen to bring in a new big-name striker this summer, but opted instead to make the somewhat risky signing of Anthony Martial, who arrived from AS Monaco for around £36m, potentially rising to £58m.

Muller would have been a far more proven talent if he’d made the move to Old Trafford, with the German international long regarded as one of the best players in the world.

According to The Sun, United made a big bid for him, but Bayern were not willing to part company with one of their star performers this summer.
