Manchester United plotting £15m move for lethal Premier League striker

Manchester United are understood to be considering a move for Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy, according to sources.

The Daily Star reports that the Red Devils are eyeing England international Vardy ahead of a potential £15m move in January.

United have struggled for goals this season, and if they are to mount a genuine title challenge during the second half of the campaign, van Gaal will surely need to invest in his attack once again during the January transfer window.

To date, the Red Devils have scored only 17 goals in their 12 games so far this season—considerably fewer than leaders Manchester City (26), second-placed Arsenal (22), or even third-placed Leicester (25).

Indeed, of the teams in the top half of the table, only Crystal Palace and Liverpool have scored fewer, while even strugglers Norwich City and Chelsea have bagged 16 each, only one fewer than the Red Devils.

While high-profile summer signings Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial have shone in patches, neither is yet to convince that he can lead the line for title contenders, while Wayne Rooney has also had a mixed start to the campaign.

Vardy, who currently leads the EPL’s scoring charts with 12 goals in 12 games, recently became the first person to score in nine consecutive matches in one Premier League season, and his pace and work rate could well help United mount a credible title tilt.
