Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is said to be well on course to making a comeback from injury over the Christmas period, according to the Metro.

The injury plagued midfielder has yet to make an appearance for the Gunners this term, having sustained a hairline fracture in his leg during pre-season (via Metro).

The Metro reports that injuries have blighted the 23-year-old’s career recently, as various problems have reduced him to making a total of just 63 appearances over the past four seasons.

However, he could be in line for a slight reprieve as a report in the Daily Mirror claims that he is prepared to make a return for Arsenal’s festive fixture pile up.

The Gunners could see their title challenge shaped by their run over Christmas, as they take on the likes of Manchester City, Southampton and Liverpool during that period.

With Arsenal suffering injuries to key players like Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Hector Bellerin and Danny Welbeck (via Mirror) Wilshere’s return will come as a huge boost to manager Arsene Wenger.
