Video: Mahrez goal continues Leicester demolition as Chelsea’s woes worsen

We’ve all just been waiting for Leicester City’s fairytale to end this season, and it seemed only a matter of time before Chelsea put an end to their poor run of form. Neither has come to fruition however, and the Foxes are currently running riot at the King Power Stadium, Riyad Mahrez adding to Jamie Vardy’s first half goal to make it Leicester 2-0 Chelsea.

The Algerian has been in fine form all season, and he and Vardy have formed one of the most devastating partnerships in the league. Mahrez is currently on 7 assists and 11 goals in the Premier League, and has shown no signs of slowing down.

After assisting Vardy’s goal before the break, Mahrez plucked the ball out of the air superbly for a goal of his own. He showed quick feet to twist and turn away from the Chelsea defence, and as soon as he had a clear sight on goal he let fly.

Thibaut Courtois had absolutely no chance, and the ball flew into the back of the net to compound Chelsea’s misery.

Check out the goal below:

Jose Mourinho must be close to pulling his hair out by now, and his side are teetering dangerously on the edge of the relegation zone. Leicester meanwhile, will go top of the table if they can get the win against last season’s champions, putting an end to Arsenal’s one day spell at the top.

Manchester City and Arsenal look the most likely pair to challenge for the title this season, but the way they’re playing at the moment you’d be silly to discount Leicester. They’ve lost just one game so far this season – to Arsenal – and look a real force to be reckoned with. But can they hold on to Vardy and Mahrez in January?
