Chelsea, Man United target could receive new contract in unexpected transfer twist

Zlatan Ibrahimovic may not be set for an exit from Paris Saint-Germain as had been first expected.

The Swedish superstar, a legend at PSG following his exploits in recent season, appears set to leave the Parc des Princes next summer when his current contract comes to an end.

At 34, the forward continues to perform at a high level—he has scored 15 goals and contributed six assists so far this season—but it remains to be seen whether he can continue to perform as the face of the project at PSG in light of his increasing years.

The attacker has won three Ligue 1 titles since moving to PSG from AC Milan in 2012, and remains a sought-after talent for various European heavyweights.

Milan have been linked to the player [The Sun], while a move to Major League Soccer has also been mooted [The Sun].

Similarly, there has been interest from England, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all understood to be monitoring a move for the former Barcelona frontman [Express].

In principle, any of the three could sign Zlatan for nothing next summer, or pay a fee to liberate him from PSG in January.

However, speaking to Le Figaro [as per Le 10 Sport], PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has hinted that Zlatan may well be offered a new contract at the Parc des Princes,

“He has given all of his heart for this club,” Al-Khelaifi began. “We will talk about his future in February, about what he wants to do.

“He knows that I always support him.”
