Well done, van Gaal! Gareth Bale terrified of Man United prospects as hopes of £100m transfer are DASHED

According to reports, the ongoing uncertainty at Manchester United has scared Gareth Bale off the prospect of a move to Old Trafford.

The Real Madrid superstar has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League for over a year, and United—who wanted to sign the attacker when he was still a Tottenham Hotspur player—have long appeared the most likely destination for the Welshman.

According to the Independent, Bale strongly considered a switch to Old Trafford during the summer when the Red Devils made an astonishing £100 million bid for his services.

Ultimately, Bale stayed at Real, but rumours linking him with a move to Manchester have never gone away.

However, any hopes the Red Devils had of signing the starlet have been dealt a blow with news that the attacker, discouraged by the ongoing malaise at the club under Louis van Gaal, is reconsidering the prospect of a switch to the club.

Indeed, so scared is Bale of the deep-lying problems at the club, that he is understood to have been ‘persuaded to forget the idea’ of a switch to Old Trafford.

With Real’s recent transfer ban meaning that Los Merengues are unable to register any new players before the 2017-18 season, it’s becoming increasingly hard to imagine Bale swapping the Bernabeu for Old Trafford any time soon.
