Chelsea close in on signature of promising USA youth international: Deal done in 24 hours

New York Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga is said to be closing in on a move to the Premier League, with reports stating that Chelsea are closing in on his signature.

The youngster broke through into the MLS side’s first team over the past season, and even impressed at last summer’s Under-20 World Cup.

However, he is out of contract soon and is thought to be angling for a move to England, as claimed by former USA international Taylor Twellman.

And elaborating from that initial story, ESPN journalist Marc Stein is claiming that his destination will be Stamford Bridge.

Miazga is handled by Kia Joorabchian along with former Blackburn defender Ryan Nelsen, who both have previous links to the Premier League. And as he holds a Polish passport, he should qualify easily for a work permit in England.

However, despite the links to Chelsea he has also been scouted by the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City.
