Southampton line up shock loan move to sign Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Southampton are attempting to bring back former youth product Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on loan for the remainder of the season from Arsenal, according to The Sun.

The Saints sold the Ox to Arsenal back in 2011, and after making an initial positive impression, injuries and a loss of form have seen him unable to hold down a regular first team spot.

And the south coast giants are hoping to capitalise on this by making an offer to bring him on board until the summer, with the proviso that he will have an extended run of games to play his way into Roy Hodgson’s plans for the Euros.

The 23-year-old has failed to find the net in 20 appearances across all competitions this term, and though he is a firm fan favourite at the Emirates, a loan move could be beneficial to all involved.
