Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has revealed that star striker Diego Costa is currently suffering with a broken nose thanks to a collision with a youth team player in training, the Metro reports.

The fiery Spanish international sustained the injury when colliding with the head of an unnamed youth team player, but Hiddink stressed that he will still be available for this weekend’s meeting with Newcastle.

However, he may be forced to follow in the footsteps of Nemanja Matic and Oscar by becoming the latest Blues star to wear a protective face mask this season.

“He put his nose on the back of the head and he was very unlucky. His nose was broken,” said Hiddink of the injury.

“He will return today, because today is the day they put on a mask. We are a team with a lot of masks.”
