Manchester City were left frustrated in the first half of their clash with Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon, but Manuel Pellegrini’s side didn’t wait too long after the break.
Two goals in three minutes gave the home side the lead as they look to bounce back from their disappointing loss to Liverpool in midweek, with Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero bagging the goals.
While Toure took his goal well, his Argentine teammate capitalised on some shambolic defending from the visitors to double their lead as they look to set to pile further misery on Remi Garde and his men.
City began the day 10 points adrift of Premier League leaders Leicester City, but they still have a game in hand following their Capital One Cup exploits last weekend.
Nevertheless, while they could move to within two points of third-placed Arsenal, the Foxes will have the chance to consolidate their lead when they take on Watford on Saturday evening.
From a City point of view though, Pellegrini will be delighted with picking up three points as they look to overcome a difficult period in their season as they struggled for consistency around winning their first piece of silverware of the campaign at Wembley last Sunday.
