Arsenal superstar wants £200,000-a-week to stay at Emirates Stadium

In a season full of underachieving and disappointments, the one player who has been most reliable for Arsenal has been star winger Mesut Ozil. With a league-leading 18 assists to go along with five solo goals, Ozil has often been keeping the Gunners afloat at the top of the league almost single-handedly. But Arsenal may be about to pay for relying on Ozil to keep them alive in the Premier League title race – literally.

According to Squawka, Ozil is currently in talks with Arsenal about a contract extension but is seeking wages of £200,000-a-week to sign on the dotted line. Per the Metro, those wages would make Ozil the highest-paid player in Arsenal history.

The Gunners acquired Ozil in a £42.5 milloion transfer deal with Real Madrid in 2013 and got a return on their investment immediately as he made 72 appearances in his first two seasons and helped Arsenal win back-to-back FA Cup titles in 2014 and 2015.

Ozil has been capped 72 times for Germany since 2009 and has 19 goals for the reigning World Cup champions.
