Polish midfielder Piotr Zielinski is enjoying a very good season on loan to Empoli, setting career highs in minutes and goals scored for the Serie A outfit. While he may not be the most high-profile player on the transfer market, Zielinski has made it clear that he is in talks with a possible new club and was kind enough to name drop a Premier League giant.
In an interview with Poland’s Sportowe Fakty [per the Metro], the 21-year-old midfielder revealed that Liverpool reps including Jurgen Klopp have expressed interest in him and that he has been in talks with the Anfield outfit.
‘There is a lot of truth in rumours about Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is interested in me, we had some talks,’ Zielinski said.
‘I’m not thinking too much about it right now though, I’ve still got few games to play for Empoli and after that there is still Euro 2016 in France.’
Zielinski made just 20 appearances in two seasons for his home club Udinese prior to making a two-year loan spell to Empoli. Since joining his new club, Zielinski has made 60 appearances for the club and has scored a career-high four goals in Serie A this season.
