Transfer rejected: Juventus turn down £25.5m bid for defender Daniele Rugani

Everton may have been eager to land Juventus defender Daniele Rugani this summer, but the Toffees either need to offer a lot more or resign themselves to not getting him because they have been shut down by the Serie A giants.

According to Sun Sport, Juventus have turned down a £25.5 million offer from Everton for the 21-year-old defender and are unwilling to part with him at all this summer. Per the source, Arsenal and Napoli had expressed interest in Rugani but were similarly told that he is not available this summer. He has also been linked to La Liga outfit Valencia.

After making the switch from Empoli last summer, Rugani made 21 appearances in all competitions for Juventus during the 2015-16 season, earning 14 starts between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

Everton struggled defensively last year, allowing 55 goals – sixth most in the Premier League – and finished 11th on the table. However, per the Sun, new owner Farhad Moshiri has dedicated substantial funds to the team’s summer transfer budget.
