Man Utd could end up paying £30m for former starlet in move reminiscent of Paul Pogba transfer

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is plotting a move for Leicester City star Danny Drinkwater according to the Sun.

Per the source, Drinkwater is a £30 million transfer target for Mourinho who is keen on strengthening his midfield following a shaky start to the season.

If Drinkwater were to join United it would be strikingly similar to Paul Pogba returning to Old Trafford for an astronomic fee after being released for next to nothing.

Drinkwater left United four-years ago after joining the club aged nice, however, he never made an appearance for the Reds during his time there.

The 26-year-old was a pivotal part of Claudio Ranieri’s side last season that went on to win the Premier League title and is one of the most in form midfield players in the Premier League.

Drinkwater still has two years remaining on his current deal and the Foxes are under no obligation to sell but a £30 million offer could tempt the reigning champions into considering a move.

United already spent £150million over the summer on Paul Pogba, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitarayan, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic was signed on a free.
