Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has responded to Filipe Luis’ Instagram post as the war of words between the pair continued to heat up on Wednesday.
The duo clashed in the 1-1 draw between Barca and Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, with Suarez raising his studs and connecting with his rival’s foot which earned him a yellow card.
After the match, the Atleti left-back took to Instagram to share this image of his foot, showing the damage that had been done to him by Suarez’s tackle.
“Football is for men,” Suarez said in response when asked about the post when leaving the stadium.
“Everything stays on the pitch, if everything uploaded what happens (to social media) the game would be a circus.”
It’s not the first time Suarez has been involved in an ugly incident, and it probably won’t be the last. Nevertheless, he has a point about players sharing too much on social media, as evidently there isn’t much of a code about keeping things on the pitch unless genuine action is required.
