Arsenal were lucky to win against Burnley yesterday, relying on a late Laurent Koscielny goal to give them victory. The Gunners struggled to create many chances, and players like Mesut Ozil couldn’t break up an impressively organised opposition.
No matter their issues in the final third, Arsenal impressed again defensively, with Shkodran Mustafi’s stats backing up his impressive performance on the pitch.
The German central defender made six tackles in the game, double the number that second placed Nacho Monreal manager for the North London side.
Mustafi also had an amazing 13 clearances – ten more than the next best Arsenal player. He is forming a very solid partnership with Laurent Koscienly at the heart of his side’s defence, Per Mertesacker’s chances of walking straight back into the Arsenal team have dwindled away to nothing and Arsene Wenger will be very hopeful about his side’s chances of winning a trophy this year if Mustafi can keep up this form.
