Poor planning leaves Manchester United with Daley Blind at centreback

Reports in today’s Sun are that Manchester United  are furious at their own failure to include a sell on fee or buy back clause in the contract of young defender Michael Keane, who joined Burnley for a small fee in January 2015.

The academy graduate has gone from strength to strength since. After dropping down into the Championship with the Clarets that year, Keane had a great season in the Championship last term and is now linked with bids from big sides like Chelsea.

United signed Eric Bailly in the summer, who has had a great start to the season, to soothe their irritation a bit. But hat will make this move especially galling for United fans is that the lack of depth at centreback means that they have had to playDaley Blind in defence this year  , when he would be the ideal man to replace Michael Carrick for the Red Devils.
