Man United transfer news: Four Premier League clubs battling for £16m utility man

Manchester United star Ashley Young could be on his way out of Old Trafford in January with no less than four Premier League clubs reportedly keen on him.

According to ESPN FC, the former Watford and Aston Villa man is in high demand as the Hornets, Everton, Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion are all plotting a January move.

The 31-year-old has been limited to just seven appearances in all competitions so far this season, with Jose Mourinho using him as nothing more than a versatile back-up option.

Having risen to prominence with Watford and Villa as a pacy and dangerous winger, the England international has been asked to play at full-back at Old Trafford on countless occasions which in turn has ensured that he remained a useful squad player for the club.

As per The Daily Mail, Young joined United for £16m in 2011 from Villa and went on to help the club win the Premier League title in 2013 as well as the FA Cup last season.

However, it looks as though his time at Old Trafford could be coming to an end as Mourinho looks to shake his squad up further in the New Year to improve on their slow start to the campaign.

Young will be a solid acquisition for whichever club he opts to join if he does move on, as his experience and versatility will always make him a valuable asset to have.
