Tottenham left-back emerges as a shock £25M transfer target for Man City but they will face competition for his signature

Tottenham left-back Danny Rose has emerged as a shock transfer target for Manchester City as Pep Guardiola looks to plug the holes in his leaking defence, according to the Mirror.

The Mirror report that City are in the market for a new full-back and Guardiola has had “glowing reports” from City’s scouts on Rose. They note that the England international could cost as much as £25 million, as Daniel Levy is reluctant to sell a player who has become a cornerstone in Spurs’ defence.

It is also reported by the Mirror that City would face competition from local rivals Manchester United, with Jose Mourinho also keen on bringing in defensive reinforcements.

Rose emerged as one of the most well-rounded full-backs in the league last season and has carried that form into the beginning of this campaign. The 26-year-old has nailed down his spot in England’s defence too, which is testament to his progress both offensively and defensively.
