Man City have bought plenty of players from Arsenal over the last ten years, ususally in deals that have ended up benefitting the seller more than the buyer.
But today’s Daily Mail suggests an interesting – if entirely unlikely – connection between the Manchester side and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.
Wilshere is on loan at Bournemouth at the moment, and while playing regularly is not exactly setting the league on fire.
He certainly has the technical ability that Pep Guardiola demands in his players, but his career so far hasn’t show the kind of tactical intelligence and total commitment that the Catalan boss also demands from his squad members.
On the other hand City aren’t that strong in central midfield, with even Yaya Toure getting games in recent weeks despite having spent months ostracised from the group.
At this stage this rumour doesn’t seem to have much substance to it, but with Wilshere’s contract ticking towards its end it will be interesting to see if anything develops.
