Is Aston Villa Boss Martin O’Neill Stoned, Drunk or Both?

WTF!

Football - Aston Villa v Everton Barclays Premier League

“City might not be favourites to win the league but they should be. If Toure comes – and they still haven’t stopped spending – they have as good a chance as anyone of winning it.
“ City haven’t even got any European competition. All they have got is 38 league games and the League Cup and the FA Cup – and that doesn’t start for them until January. (Daily Express)

Seriously. I will gladly take any punters money on the stone cold certainty that Man City will not win the League this coming season, hell I will take the bet for the next three seasons! I have nothing against the Blue half of Manchester, in fact I would say that I actually quite like them and I would imagine most right minded Eastlands supporters are not going to get too carried away just yet.

More than likely O’Neill has just made this statement because he realises there is a good chance Mark Hughes’s side will jump ahead of themselves in the race towards the top four. Whilst having a hell of a lot of money helps move you up the league you need the kind of history and standing within the game to get the really big names, at least to begin with anyway.

Look how City chased Franck Ribery, Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and John Terry but ended up with an entirely different set of new additions. True, if they do snap up Kolo Toure that will be a big boost to their defence and I would state that the Arsenal man would be their best signing to date, better than the millions then spent on a set of strikers with attitude problems (Roque Santa Cruz aside).

Good luck trying to get Emmanuel Adebayor (greed machine), Carlos Tevez (Mongo from Blazing Saddles), Craig Bellamy (Thug) and Robinho (I’m off as soon as a truly huge comes and offers me even more money than I am on right now) to gel together as a strike force.

And Mr. O’Neill, lay off the hallucinogenics prior to your next interview!
