Arsenal were one of a host of teams linked with a January move for Toulouse’s French international holding midfielder and he would have been a perfect addition at the Emirates Stadium.
That did not come off – as didn’t potential moves to Tottenham or Everton – but the tough tackling 24-year-old is expected to make the switch to join Arsenal in the summer for around £7million and will be a welcome boost.
