Italian manager’s future safe says City chief.
Roberto Mancini has been given a vote of confidence by Manchester City according to The Daily Mail.
The Italian manager’s future is not under consideration according to the club’s Chief Executive, Ferran Soriano.
There has been speculation in recent weeks that Mancini may part ways with City after enduring a difficult season.
The club have lost significant ground in the race for the Premier League title to Manchester United, with their city rivals now 15 points ahead of them.
No club has ever failed to go on to win the title after establishing such a gap and the club now looks certain to fail in their attempt to defend the Premier League trophy they won last season.
The club have also disappointed in Europe, exiting from the Champions League during the group stages. While City were drawn in a difficult group, alongside Read Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Ajax, club officials were reportedly unhappy the team had not progressed considering the lavish sums spent on assembling the squad.
Reports in recent weeks had suggested Mancini might be tempted by a lucrative offer to join Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg.
Mancini denied there were any truth to the rumours though and the Italian looks set for an extended stay at the Etihad Stadium.
