Premier League side set to miss out on Italian midfielder.
Manchester City are reportedly set to miss out on the signing of Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi according to The Express.
City boss Roberto Mancini is known to be a long term admirer of the player and reportedly tried to bring the player to the Etihad last summer.
The Italian boss’ advances were turned down but Roma are now in a much weaker position to hold on to De Rossi after a disappointing season in Serie A.
The club look set to miss out on European competition next season and are facing the prospect of losing a number of their more high profile stars.
PSG and Real Madrid have reportedly stolen a march on their rivals in the race for De Rossi’s signature.
PSG are keen to add De Rossi to their ranks as they look to establish themselves amongst the dominant forces in European football while Real Madrid believe the player to be the perfect replacement for the ageing Xabi Alonso.
De Rossi has been disappointing for Roma this season and has failed to hit the back of the net once.
His disciplinary record for the club has left little to be desired as he has racked up six yellow cards and one red card.
