8. Aston Villa 3-2 QPR
Sometimes there’s nothing quite like a relegation dog fight. QPR may be virtually dead and buried now but at the time these two met there was all to play for.
And the visitors took an early lead, Jermaine Jenas pouncing on a mistake in the Villa midfield but Gabby Agbonlahor was on hand to rescue Villa, nodding them level on the stroke of half time.
Rangers came out strong and hit the woodwork, only to watch Andreas Weimann storm up the other end and put Villa ahead. The game’s ebb and flow was becoming apparent, both teams smelt blood and felt there was something in this game for both of them and the spoils were almost shared when an Andros Townsend wonderstrike somehow found its way past Brad Guzan.
However, there was one more twist in the tale, with seven minutes to go as Andi Weimann raced through the QPR area to pull the ball back to an unmarked Christian Benteke who slotted home his 13th goal of the season.
