French side want to be in good Kompany.
Monaco are being linked to yet another big name summer signing as they hope to convince Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany to quit The Etihad and join their French revolution this summer, according to talkSPORT.
The side from the principality have finally made their return to the top flight after dropping down to to Ligue 2 a few years ago and are now preparing to add a host of star players to their ranks in order to challenge fellow big spenders PSG. The club are currently in the middle of negotiating a £60 million double deal for Porto pair Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez and they are now lining up a shock bid for the Belgian international defender.
The 27-year-old joined City from Hamburg in 2009 and has 200 appearances for the title chasers but saw his contribution last season limited thanks to a series of injuries and his absence was felt as the side saw their race for the Premier League crown slip away with several games to go.
He is still under contract in Manchester until 2018 and has a price tag of around £25.5 million so it would require a significant chunk to prize him away. Barcelona have also been credited with an interest but City are said to be unwilling to entertain any offers for him.
