Italian defender not seeking Serie A return.
Newcastle defender Davide Santon is not interested in joining AC Milan, talkSPORT have reported.
The 22-year-old is considered a hot prospect at St James’ Park, since joining the club from Milan’s rivals Inter in 2011, establishing himself as the first choice left-back for the team.
He has been linked with bigger clubs on a few occasions, and AC Milan are admirers of his, as they look to strengthen their squad to mount an improved challenge for the Serie A title next season.
Newcastle may find they struggle to keep several of their big names this summer, and the likes of Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa and Papiss Cisse have also been linked with moves away after Alan Pardew’s side struggled to fight relegation this season.
Zenit St Petersburg have also shown an interest in the Italian. However, Santon’s agent Claudio Vigorelli says his client is happy and settled in England, and enjoying the challenge of Premier League football.
He said: “He has recently become a father, his girlfriend is English, and he has no intention to leave England or a championship as fascinating as the Premier League.”
AC Milan are also believed to be tracking former Tottenham star Luka Modric from Real Madrid in the upcoming transfer window.
